Consulate-General, Canton, 254/2, 1901.

I have the honour to report that I received a telegram from the Banchoi (or Samshui?) Magistrate in the afternoon asking me to telegraph to Canton.

I was unable, owing to the piracy case, to return to Canton till 8 o'clock in the evening.

I have just received a despatch from the Senior Judge, Mr. Havart-Hartshorne, stating that the adjourned trial of the piracy case will be resumed.

I think it will not be sufficient to simply complain that the accused are unable to return to Canton.

I have telegraphed to Canton by leaving Hong Kong.
